Nagatsuta

Posted in Poetry on November 23rd, 2006

Back to business as usual here on the website. I’ll upload some belated Halloween pictures to Flickr sometime soon. For the time being, here is something resembling a poem. From the Book of Shadows:

* * *

You should go large
swallow the sun, spit seeds like stars
come correct if you can
spine straight, fists clenched
angry like nature, natural, naked
and laughing and laughing as you rise
or fall
or explode in every direction, the shrapnel of you
scattered through soft tissue
like seeds that are glowing
embers in the grass
at your feet
little breaths of smoke curling up
like floral fingers from
funeral incense
the black hole at the center
of a galaxy of smoke,
breathe in the ghost of a shattered star.

Lightning Strike Recon Op - Day 6

Posted in Japan on November 17th, 2006

Instead of Day 6 I should probably just say Final Day, or perhaps Day Omega. This is it, folks. The trip is over, and I’m done writing about it. The last pictures are uploaded, so feel free to look at those as well. Expect to be subjected to plenty of pictures and stories when we get back to the United States, but for the time being you don’t have to hear anything else about it. Please enjoy, and thanks for reading about our trip!

On Day Five we visited Himeji, home of the White Heron castle, and finally ended up in Hiroshima, the ultimate destination of our journey. Read on, true believers, and don’t forget to look at pictures of a castle on our Flickr page.

Castle, castle, castle.

Lightning Strike Recon Op - Day 4

Posted in Japan on November 6th, 2006

My apologies for the lateness of this post, friends and relatives. I recently got distracted by other projects, work, and being sick, and I neglected to continue with the chronicle of our adventures across Japan. Well, let’s have an end to that! Without further ado, here is Day Four of our trip, wherein we discover the hidden joys of Nara.

SPOILER ALERT: The hidden joys of Nara are deer.

I posted the pictures for Nara last week, but if by chance you missed them, take a look!
