Nothing More Than

Posted in Short Stories, Short shorts on September 8th, 2007

Hello babies. I started writing this last week, but today I finally put in the gumption to finish it up. I hope you like it because I do. Do you hear that, world? I am allowing myself to approve of something that I have written. Don’t think I’m going to get into the habit or anything. Just note that today, just this once, I am pretty okay with one of my stories.

It’s a(nother) story about feelings.

DEAL WITH IT.

Made a Guy

Posted in Short shorts on August 16th, 2007

Still trying to push myself to write more while I’m not in school. I wrote this today, and I make no judgment upon it. I merely present it to the website as an offering to prove my devotion. Think of it like a vestal virgin, minus the mystery of femininity and/or wrathful gods. I hope you’re all doing well! Drop me a line sometime, tell me the best thing that’s happened to you in the last month.

Number Seventy-three

Posted in Entropy, Short Stories, Short shorts on July 16th, 2007

Hi everyone! Sorry that it’s been so long, but I’ve just been so gosh-darn busy! I just started my first class in graduate school, and we’re still working to get the house set up. In fact, I probably shouldn’t even be taking this time to write! I should be working on homework! Oh well!

Here is something I wrote. It’s about problems!

Dialogue Game, Part 2

Posted in Entropy, Short shorts on June 17th, 2007

Hello, everyone! Gosh, a whole lot of stuff is going on right now. We just bought a house! Whoah! I start summer school next week! I have to take a class to learn how to teach Public Speaking. Perhaps it won’t be horribly boring? Also we have a kitten named Chippy! It’s an exciting time to be alive.

You may recall the little dialogue game I posted about here. Well, here is the result! I actually finished it weeks ago, but I wasn’t crazy about it so I’ve been loathe to put it online. However, my word is my bond. I can’t leave an obligation unfulfilled! So here you go. It’s about seafaring folk, if that helps things.

Machine of Death

Posted in Short Stories on April 23rd, 2007

Hello everybody! Tonight I have a favor to ask of you. I have written a short story for the compilation being put together at MachineofDeath.net. If you don’t feel like clicking the link, here is a brief description from their site:

The machine had been invented a few years ago: a machine that could tell, from just a sample of your blood, how you were going to die. It didn’t give you the date and it didn’t give you specifics. It just spat out a sliver of paper upon which were printed, in careful block letters, the words “DROWNED” or “CANCER” or “OLD AGE” or “CHOKED ON A HANDFUL OF POPCORN”. It let people know how they were going to die.

My job was to write a story with their machine as a central theme. The submission deadline is the end of April, and they’re going to pick their favorites to go in the compilation. As a sidenote, one of the editors is Ryan North of Dinosaur Comics.

I would really, really appreciate it if anyone can find it in their heart to read and comment on what I’ve written. I know it’s long, so only enter into this venture if you’re bored at work or avoiding final exams. This is the first rough draft, so let me know if you have any criticisms or suggestions. There may be some formatting or syntax errors which I will fix as I find them. I want to submit a fixed-up draft to them within a day or two. Thanks for reading!
